About the Phoenix Data Center

WHO

Phoenix Data Center is a not-for-profit organization that maintains an index of all free and low income services offered throughout Santa Clara County and neighboring communities. Our goal is to connect those in need with those who help.

WHY

There are literally hundreds of agencies throughout Santa Clara County that are ready to assist with free and low cost meals, healthcare, legal aid, and shelter. The problem is access — most public agencies don’t have the resources to collect, manage and distribute information on all the private assistance programs they may be aware of, not to mention those that they aren’t.

WHAT

That’s where Phoenix Data Center comes in. Because these programs are independent and diverse, they often go unknown or underused. Programs often require specific qualifications, are located in areas that are not easy to find, or maintain restrictive service hours.

Phoenix provides information on all of these programs. We offer maps to their locations, provide their web links and e-mail addresses, and list the details of how to qualify for their assistance. We obtain and report this information from a consumer point of view — typically calling providers to obtain the relevant information person-to-person over the phone. This data is then published on-line for free public use.

About the Phoenix Data Center Logo

The designers at Tharp Did It created the graphic identity for Phoenix Data Center. Like the phoenix itself the human figure in our logo represents one’s ability to rise again with a renewed spirit.

The award-winning design studio has also created identities for VTA (Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority buses and light rail), the Santa Clara County Office of Education, San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, LeBoulanger Bakery Cafes, and Cinequest (San Jose Film Festival), among others. Rick Tharp’s poster designs for BRIO Toys of Sweden were selected for inclusion in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Design Museum.

You can find out more by visiting TharpDidIt.com. Information about Rick Tharp’s passing can be found here.
